Tailem Bend/Keith Pipeline, South Australia
Project Description
Fleurieu Civil and Construction was engaged by SA Water to perform upgrades to the Tailem Bend to Keith Pipeline system. The TBK system was constructed between 1964 and 1973 with the original valves still being in place. Fleurieu Civil’s contracted works were:
1. Installation of 3 new valves with their bypass valve pipework and additional network bypass pipework to provide alternative feeds to the townships of Coonalpyn, Culburra and Tintinara. Pipe sizes – DN 600 and DN 525.
2. Replace 4 existing valves in existing chambers, sizes ranging from DN525 to DN750 The works included to manage:
Undertaking of ‘Condition Assessments’ on the existing below ground main at the 3 new valve locations.
Undertake all planning for safety, identification of existing services, interface with SA Water Operations to undertake the required excavation works to expose the main.
Safety of the excavations and access for condition assessments, as well as protection from damage whilst exposing and backfilling this critical main.
The project was completed on time and budget, with the client, SA Water being impressed in our ability to manage and perform the works.
